The cafeteria is a great place for lunch and socializing, but it can be hard for that if you can’t find a seat. Hunting down the right amount of seating might not be enough. Sometimes you have to pull open chairs from across the cafeteria.
“You have to resort to sitting at a circle table and then you all have to pull up chairs from the long tables or other circle tables because there is not enough seating. Or you decide to go outside and there is a minimum amount of benches so you have to sit on the ground,” Ashlynn Wuesthoff, a freshman, voiced.
“ If you’re trying to sit with your friends, it’s hard to find spots with the right amount of seat because some people are using chairs for their bags.”
Assistant Principal Mrs. Beck and Wuesthoff both describe the cafeteria as packed and crowded.
“I would say the cafeteria is very cramped,” Wuesthoff states.
“If we are talking about just the cafeteria, it’s packed. Every single seat is taken,” Mrs. Beck argues.
Their solution for extra seating was to allow some teachers to have open lunch to a set amount of students on certain days. Mrs. Beck states that it would be better to have certain days, so it is more controlled. If we had to earn this new seating then it would be like punishing the whole group instead of just a few individuals.
“I think only the individuals who aren’t doing right should get punished, not the whole group,” Mrs. Beck says.
“So let’s say Ms. Croy or Ms. Euman, said I’m allowing these 20 students, that takes 20 people out of lunch, that opens 20 seats.,” Mrs. Beck suggests.
Even though the cafeteria is not the only place to eat lunch, the places that are available for eating are also crowded. This can be an excellent experience for things that happen in our daily lives, like airports or malls.
“If you go to an airport, you’re going to see people walking around and everything else when you’re eating,” Mrs. Beck states.
However, some people have stated that they feel the cafeteria is not crowded and there is a bunch of seating.
“I would say that it has a lot of seating,” freshman Kamea Perry, argues.
On the other hand, Wuesthoff argues,“If you’re trying to sit with your friends, it’s hard to find spots with the right amount of seat because some people are using chairs for their bags.”
The cafeteria, the schola, and outside are all places you can sit and eat lunch at. But finding enough seating for your friend group can be tough. People are either using chairs for their bags or saving them for friends that never show up.
