There’s nothing better than enjoying a hearty breakfast, both sweet and savory, while constantly smelling the aroma of freshly brewed coffee.
The one restaurant that never fails in satisfying this carefree scene is First Watch, where their mission is “to provide an elevated daytime dining experience through fresh, made-to-order dishes and a commitment to its ‘You First’ culture.”
Luckily for many regulars and newcomers, First Watch has released its new spring menu with new drinks and entrees for anyone to enjoy. My personal opinion is that these items deserve a spot on the main menu.
The standout for me was the B.E.C. breakfast sandwich. Its popular comeback is definitely understandable.
Journalist Michael Carpenter from Williamson County Source writes, “The B.E.C. makes its highly anticipated return to First Watch locations nationwide following significant customer demand across social media platforms.”
Crispy bacon, fluffy eggs, and melted cheddar seem so simple, but the addition of Calabrian chili aioli ties it all together, bringing the sandwich to the next level. It’s a handheld that almost anyone would go back for.
“The B.E.C. delivers its classic, crave-worthy charm,” explains the First Watch description.
The chimichurri steak & eggs hash was not only filling, but it delivered a nice tang between the roasted garlic aioli, house-pickled sweet peppers, and chimichurri sauce. While all these flavors may have seemed overwhelming, the feta cheese and potatoes were good neutralizers in making sure the flavors would not clash together.
This entree is the best for any meat-lover or anyone who prefers protein-based meals.
Carpenter writes, “First Watch introduces the Chimichurri Steak & Eggs Hash as a new protein-forward option on the seasonal menu.”
Moving on to their new sweet item on the menu, the strawberry tres leches French toast almost seems like a dessert for breakfast. The glazed strawberries and warm dulce de leche made the meal seem comforting, while the gingerbread cookie crumbles provided a satisfying crunch to contrast with the pillowy French toast.
There is no other menu item that can capture the same delightful sweetness.
“New items, like Strawberry Tres Leches French Toast, have moved onto the main menu with a designated icon to set them apart,” states Patricia Cobe in the Restaurant Business.
Another sweet treat that is more shareable is the blueberry lemon cornbread. The mix of lemon and blueberry provided a nice tartness, topped with a small, lemon-infused scoop of butter that was both pleasant and delicious.
Finally, First Watch’s seasonal drink highlight is the Pineapple Express. It contains pineapple, orange, coconut water, lime, and agave, which all blended perfectly for a refreshing taste. The rim of the glass is covered in sugar and mint to add on to the fresh taste of the drink.
The First Watch description states, “Our Pineapple Express fresh juice rounds out the lineup with a bright, refreshing finish.”
Overall, First Watch’s spring menu introduces new flavors for all sweet and savory fans to enjoy. If First Watch’s goal is to put guests first, then keeping these items on the permanent menu would be the best way to do it.
